The Folk Singer

I was born a folk singer, a gypsy of the land

Everywhere I go I'm looking out for a lucky hand

Collecting all my stories I can decorate with gold

Faithfully subscribing, to the prisioned and the bold

I'm a folk singer

Of the wandering kind

Ever searching

Poems of mine

I live in the shadow of an old familar friend

The inspiration on which every folk song depends

Some call him the black dog

The others call him Jack

But you're not yet a folk singer

Without him on your back

I'm a folk singer

Of the suffering kind

Ever desperate

Poems of mine

While I'm sleeping

I'm still thinking

Of the words I'm keeping

And the one's I'll leave behind

I'm a folk singer

Of the curious kind

Ever dreaming

Poems of mine

Fork In The Road

It was kindergarten when I first pushed a pram

Found a sweet friend, I held their hand

I always cared for the little ones around

Everybody knows, it's my turn now

I'm hanging on for a miracle

Running out of precious time

I'm at the fork in the road

I've tried adoption, and every operation

I've cursed at God, in my desperation

And I saw my mother by the river in a dream

Skipping stones, but what does that mean

I'm hanging on for a miracle

Running out of precious time

I'm at the fork in the road

Now the suns setting low

And I still don't wanna go, without you

As the first star appears

How I wish you were here

And not just, some idea that I've been naming

At the fork in the road

Now the world is at war

And the waters on the rise

And the truth is darling
I'm terrified

Perhaps it is better if I don't have you

If it's all now, that I can do

We're hanging on, for a miracle

Running out of precious time

We're at the fork in the road

Human Touch

Beneath my skin

I am suffering

We've all got pain to live with

That never ends

Will you take my hand

I could use a friend

To hold me as I cry and try

To stand again

It don't take much
With human touch

Two gentle hands to reach for

When I'm covered up

Someone I can trust

To show me love

If you need me to

I am here for you

I'm holding just as tightly
And carefully too

It don't take much
With human touch

Two gentle hands to reach for

When you're covered up

Someone you can trust

To show you love

Bravery can only sustain you a while

Hold on to me

Break down with me

When you're on your way
And I'm back up too

We'll be over tonder thinking

Good for you

It don't take much
With human touch

Two gentle hands to reach for

When you're covered up

Someone you can trust

To show you love

I Know Nothing

I've got a magic wand

And a bell to ring in the morning

But I know nothing

I know nothing

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

But a crescent moon

On a pink blue sky

In between tall trees

Swaying side to side

Sure looks pretty to me

But I know nothing

I know nothing

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

I've got a tarot card

And it's crystal clear

That I know nothing

I know nothing

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

But a shooting star

Swimming in the sky

When you're on your own

And you can't believe your eyes

It sure looks pretty to me

But I know nothing

I know nothing

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

I wish I was as astronaut

But I'm not

I'm an astro - not (yet)

I think I've got the key

I can hear the angels sing

That I know nothing

I know nothing

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

But I'm dreaming of a rainbow

And I'm riding my cosmic unicorn

It sure looks pretty to me

Pretty to me

Pretty to me

Pretty to me

Canadian Folk Music

He liked to listen to Canadian Folk Music in surgery

Something really beautiful

Must have been playing

When he was operating on me

I wrote a letter when I got better

With a promise I would make him see

That I’d be walking and I’m walking

I’m walking, I’m walking

It gets me where I need to be

When all the hope I had

Was to hold his hand

Ooo…ooo

I met his daughter by coincidence

Later on she just happened to be

Sitting across the table

Telling her side

Of the same story

That he was under so much pressure

And he had a family

But now I’m walking, I’m walking

I’m walking, I’m walking

It gets me where I need to be

When all the hope I had

Was to hold his hand

Ooo…ooo

I didn’t recognise it at the time

But he was a magical man

He took a knife to save my life

And got me back here again

When all the hope I had

Was to hold his hand

Ooo…ooo

La La La La La La La La La

La La La La La La La

He was diagnosed with what the doctor knows

Has got no cure

The last thing he said to me was

I really like your poetry

When all the hope I had

Was to hold his hand

Ooo…ooo

He liked to listen to

Canadian Folk Music in surgery

Something really beautiful

Must have been playing

Trains & Whistles (Acoustic)

Trains keep on rollin’

Thru our little town

It all feels different

Without you around

I shook your hand

That shook the hands of pain

Said it all makes you stronger, yeah

That’s just the way

So I’ll see ya, when I see ya

It’s been mighty fine to have

Got to know ya

We’ll sing our songs again

Drink to long lost friends

Oh, we’ll bring the house down

When my train comes to town

Oh we drank the finest Whiskey

All the stories we could tell

Oh you never tired of listening

Yeah you knew me so well

Taught me about Jesus

And let me make my own mind

You said we all get redemption

At the end of the line

So I’ll see ya, when I see ya

It’s been mighty fine to have

Got to know ya

We’ll sing our songs again

Drink to long lost friends

Oh, we’ll bring the house down

When my train comes to town

So I’ll see ya, when I see ya

It’s been mighty fine to have

Got to know ya

We’ll sing our songs again

Drink to long lost friends

Oh, we’ll bring the house down

When my train comes to town

When my train comes to town

Mmmmmmmm

Should I See You Again (Acoustic)

I don’t know where you’re going

Oh I know where you’ve been

I don’t need a reason

A meaning for the end

I don’t loose anymore sleep

Oh but even if I do

I wont loose a moment

Thinking about you

So I’m not making amends

And I’m not willing to bend

I have nothing but love for you

Should I, see you again

I don’t know what you’re doing

I know what you’ve done

I don’t need a reason

For loving anyone

So I’m not making amends

And I’m not willing to bend

I have nothing but love for you

Should I, see you again

I don’t know if I should be willing

To cross the street to say hello

But to think I should keep on walking

Just like, just like I didn’t know

So I’m not making amends

And I’m not willing to bend

I have nothing but love for you

Should I, see you again

I have nothing but love for you

Should I, see you again
